Esther Constance (Hendricks) Davis

Esther Constance Hendricks was the first child of Charles Louis & Mathilda Olsson Hendricks and was born on 12 December 1879 in Worcester, MA. The family was living at 59 Eastern Avenue in Worcester.

Esther was age five when the family moved into the Holden house.

Esther attended the local schools and graduated from Holden High School in 1897. Esther went to Worcester Normal School and began teaching in 1899 at Springdale School (District #10). From ten years from 1900 until 1909 Esther taught the primary grades at Jefferson School (District #5). She also was a church soloist.

On 1 October 1919 she married Harry A. Davis. At the time of her marriage at age forty, she retired from her position as school principal in Hopedale. Her husband was an executive of the Draper Company and a widower with three grown daughters.

On 2 April 1922, Esther died from peritonitis after gall bladder surgery. She is buried in Grove Cemetery in Holden, MA.
